Welcoming Spring and Blessings to Herald the New Year ushering in good fortune for the year ahead
03/03/2026
To enable residents to maintain their daily routines and experience the festive atmosphere, the Mother's Association Hoi Wan Integrated Elderly Services Centre hosted the ‘Welcoming Spring, Receiving Blessings, Celebrating the New Year – New Year Fortune-Welcoming Event’ on Tuesday, 3rd March this year. The event combined the traditional custom of distributing red packets with nostalgic dim sum culture, allowing the elderly to exercise their social and sensory abilities in a joyous and festive atmosphere. The scene was warm and lively.
On the day, staff first transformed into the God of Wealth, distributing red packets to residents and offering New Year blessings, bringing smiles and joy to all. Staff then took on the role of ‘dim sum ladies’, pushing nostalgic dim sum trolleys between tables. They warmly asked residents, ‘What tea would you like?’, ‘What dim sum would you like?’ , allowing residents to select their preferred tea and classic dim sum such as shrimp dumplings and siu mai. Amidst the aroma of tea house delicacies, laughter filled the air, and the elderly beamed with contentment.
The Centre hopes that by organising such activities blending traditional culture with social interaction, it can help the elderly maintain physical and mental well-being while enhancing their sense of happiness in daily life.
