Welcoming Spring and Blessings to Herald the New Year May Good Fortune Follow You This Spring Festival

To enable residents to uphold traditional customs, maintain community connections and savour the festive atmosphere, the Mother's Association Hoi Wan Integrated Elderly Services Centre organised a ‘Spring Festival Shopping Spree’ on Friday, 6th February. Seven elderly residents and their family members were invited to venture out to Sam Shan Tang to purchase New Year provisions, immersing themselves in the community's vibrant festive spirit.
During the outing, the elderly collaborated to complete shopping tasks by observing pictures, jointly selecting festive flowers and New Year sweets, adding interactive enjoyment. Upon completing their tasks, the elderly proudly displayed their ‘trophies’ and shared their shopping experiences. One resident remarked that it had been many years since she last personally shopped for New Year provisions, and this activity allowed her to relive memories of doing so in her youth.
This event not only allowed the elderly to continue the traditional custom of shopping for New Year provisions but also fostered emotional bonds within families through community interaction and collaborative efforts. Amidst laughter and cheer, the elderly experienced the joy of the New Year and the warmth of community care.
