13/02/2026
To enable residents to maintain their daily routines and immerse themselves in the vibrant festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year, the Mother's Association's Hoi Wan Integrated Elderly Services Centre hosted the ‘Welcoming Spring, Receiving Blessings, Celebrating the New Year – Reunion Dinner and New Year Celebration’ on Friday, 13th February this year. The event aimed to foster social engagement among the elderly, enhance their physical and mental wellbeing, and strengthen familial bonds through diverse interactive experiences.
The venue was adorned with festive decorations, drawing enthusiastic participation from numerous residents and their families. The festivities commenced with the elderly choir performing ‘Spring Flowers’ and ‘Blessings to You,’ their melodious voices setting a joyful tone throughout the venue. This was followed by the ‘Lucky Bag Guessing Game,’ where participants used their sense of touch to identify festive items concealed within. The elderly responded enthusiastically, eagerly competing to guess correctly, filling the space with continuous laughter and merriment.
Subsequently, the centre organised a session for crafting New Year couplets. With assistance from family members and staff, the elderly personally created couplets brimming with blessings. This warmly interactive process allowed them to exercise their creativity while reviving traditional festive customs.
As the event drew to a close, the centre not only held a grand lucky draw with generous prizes to send the elderly home well-rewarded, but also meticulously prepared a sumptuous reunion dinner for all the elderly and their families to share together. Amidst the delectable dishes and laughter, everyone exchanged blessings, feeling the warmth and care of family, creating a lively and heartwarming scene.
This event not only allowed the elderly to experience the joy of the festive season but also fostered interaction between family members and residents.
